 The Curse of Own Goal!

In Match 1, between Italy and Turkey, the first goal was scored by an Own Goal by Merih Demiral (TUR). This was the first time that the 1st goal is Own Goal in any UEFA Euro Tournament.

In Match 9, Poland against Slovakia, the first goal for Slovakia was and own goal by Szczesny (POL) which made two records considering all UEFA Euro tournaments. This was the first ever Own Goal scored by a Goalkeeper and also the earliest ever Own Goal in a match.

In Match 12, France vs Germany, Mat Hummels (GER) recorded Germany's first ever Own goal in the Euros. 

This matchday 1 itself, there were total 3 Own Goals scored, which is equal to the highest number of own goals so far in a completed UEFA Euro tournament (2016).


Now sum Fun facts :

In Match 1, Italy scored 3 goals for first time in UEFA European Championship history in their 3-0 victory over Turkey.

In Match 5, England won their first match in Euros. In the same march Jude Bellingham (ENG) become the youngest player at the Euros. (First ever 17 years aged player most likely.)

In Match 12, Germany and France faced each other in Group Stage for the first time in any Euros.


Not going Good?

In match 10, Spain experienced the first goaless draw in an UEFA EURO opening match since 1980 (which was against Italy). However they also registered a staggering 85 per cent possession, which is also the highest in an Euro match toppling the record in 1980.

In Match 11, as Portugal defeated Hungary (3-0). This continued the trend that Hungary has never defeated Portugal in competitive tournament. 

In Match 12, Germany recorded their first defeat in an Euro opening match.

In Match 3, Denmark vs Finland match was suspended due to a heart attack of Christian Eriksen (DEN). Match was resumed later on and Finland went on winning the game. The whole football community is wishing for his speedy recovery.

That was also the only match where no one predicted for any other two options - Finland as winner or Draw , so the whole pot amount was added to the House fund for charity.
